Carine Puyo was born, at the end of the ‘70s, in the south west of France. She’ll was bottle-fed current day Pop Culture throughout the entire ‘80s.

All through the ‘90s, she sought out sensory explorations, and navigated her way through different worlds. She was intuitively attracted to “freaks”, people who had left the realm of normality or who were never in it in the first place, or the people who weren’t given an instructions manual to learn how to live, people with no families, people with no future, the “non-conformists”. Thanks to Beat Generation authors, she realized that she wasn’t alone, that there were others. That there had been others, who despite everything, lived, created, existed.

At the end of the ‘90s, she met the person with whom she would share her life, and get married to. He invited her to join the project that he’d created a few years before, which allowed her to channel her energy.

With the rock band “Bubblies”, they would go on to live an unusual adventure together, from DIY to major recording labels, from the alternative scene to subsidized concert halls, underground sessions to recording studios in New York. With exceptional as well as surprising experimentations, they survived eight albums and more than 20 years of living together, in an artistic and domestic sense, rich in personal heartache, amazing encounters, violent disappointments, creations and shared happiness.

Together the created “Combustible”, that they define as “an autonomy tool for musicians and people with projects”. Anchored in art, alternative culture, social economy and solidarity in the digital age, others have joined them since to take part in this collective adventure that has been up and running since 2005.

Her desire to share, along with her experience in the field and topped-off with university degrees, was all that was needed to lead her to work in guidance and counseling.

Nearing 40, she moved on to another way to express herself artistically: photography. The choice in medium was a logical step in her artistic skills, having been initiated a few years previously. Sharing and displaying her emotions, as well as the ones that affect her, in the same way that she’d previously shared and given them for people to hear.

Her work on movement brought her to taking photos of her training partners, thus connecting in a flash her two passions. As Krav Maga had been introduced to her over ten years before, taking photos of fighters and martial artists seemed obvious. As it’s not possible to fake it for too long during a fight and because she found in the ring the spirit of a collective adventure, the photos convey the emotions and values she holds dear.

She attaches herself to these instants that seem suspended in time, these extraordinary moments when all can change quickly and dramatically, as well as details that could seem uninteresting to the untrained eye, all of which are the visible parts of an iceberg of passion, commitment and resilience.

Bio
